Toshiba´s RD-XS31 will use Seagate´s CE HDDs
Seagate Technology announced today that
Toshiba has selected Seagate consumer electronics (CE) hard drives for Toshiba´s
HDD & DVD recorder, RD-XS31 the industry´s first DVD multi-drive video
recorder. Seagate´s hard drive provides the RD-XS31 with up to 104 hours of
recording time for TV shows. It also provides the cache storage that allows
programs to be archived to DVD-RAM, DVD-RW and DVD-R formats. The disks were
chosen for their quiet acoustics, efficient power use, high reliability and
top streaming performance.
Seagate´s specialized CE hard drives and unique CE services provide storage
for the new world of digital entertainment, enabling personal video recorders
(PVR), video game consoles, audio jukeboxes, home media centres and networked
entertainment systems.
Key specifications of the disks:
- Capacity: 40, 80 (will be used in RD-XS31), 120, 160 GB
- Interface: Ultra ATA/100, compatible with UDMA-2, 3, and 4 chipsets
- Idle acoustics: 2.6 bels
- Supported A/V streams: up to 8 (standard TV)
- Typical startup current: no greater than 2.3 amps
