Tests
Our new test method is briefly described here. The scores on diagrams are relative to that of our reference testbed that always scores 100 points. As of 2011, it's based on the AMD Athlon II X4 620 CPU, 8GB of RAM and Palit's NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 1280MB. Detailed (absolute) results are traditionally provided in this summary.
3D Modeling
A wide range of CPUs resulted in threefold dispersion of results even in this poorly threaded group of benchmarks. However, if we disregard AMD E-350, which is aimed at netbooks, and the obsolete Celeron 400, the difference will be reduced down to twofold — between Celeron E3200 and Core i7-3960X. As you can see, single-threaded performance of different CPUs, and different architectures even, isn't that diverse for high-end processors to be needed anywhere except for applications capable of using more than four threads.
