Overall Score and Final Thoughts
The new top score is 249 points, and the new lowest score is just 29 points, but that's only because we included the old Celeron 420 in the diagrams. Even the netbook AMD E-350 scored 35 points. So, formally our results range from 29 to 249, although if we limit the selection of CPUs to popular models it gets reduced to 79-249. This means that the results of high-end CPUs grew in the last six months (with the release of Core i7 for LGA2011). Inexpensive models also went up a bit, due to demand shifting to faster CPUs, as Intel puts it. In general, it's just that the list of processors was expanded with new models. Without any significant changes in the market though. The release of AMD Bulldozer was notable, but it didn't change the general balance of powers as well.
We thank Corsair, G.Skill and Palit for providing PC parts for our testbeds.
