IBM Introduces Entry-Level System Storage DS3300 IBM announced the System Storage DS3300, a new entry-level disk array featuring integrated management software designed to give small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) a simple and affordable solution to handle all their storage needs. The DS3300 brings iSCSI to the IBM System Storage D3000 series of products, providing the industry’s broadest choice of interfaces. The DS3300 storage system is the newest addition to the IBM System Storage DS3000 product series and is designed to meet the consolidation needs for a wide range of users. With iSCSI interfaces, next-generation Serial-attached SCSI (SAS) back-end technology, and DS3000 management software, the DS3300 storage system provides businesses with robust, reliable, cost-effective shared storage. For even the smallest of businesses, transitioning direct attached storage (DAS) configurations to an IP (Internet Protocol) SAN is now virtually effortless. With Installation wizards to guide administrators through setup and configuration, even businesses that lack experienced IT staff can easily install a DS3300 solution. The DS3300 is designed to provide as an easy-to-use IP SAN (iSCSI storage area network) solution for SMB customers looking for an alternative to a Fibre Channel SAN as they transition from a DAS environment. The DS3300 may be shared between applications, servers, computer rooms and remote locations for increased efficiencies across a company’s IT environment. The IBM System Storage DS3000 series of products now offers a full range of host interface options – SAS, Fibre Channel and, now with the introduction of the DS3300, iSCSI rounds out the portfolio. The DS3300 supports SAS hard disk drives and expansion via the IBM System Storage EXP3000 Expansion Unit for up to 14.4 terabytes of raw capacity that allow for the storage systems to scale up to 48 hard disk drives. Additionally, customers can elect to include enhanced data protection features such as FlashCopy for point-in-time, full volume copies of data, and VolumeCopy for full logical drive replication. The IBM System Storage DS3300 will be generally available September 7, 2007 and will start at a list price of $5,000. Pioneer Introduces DJM-700 DJ Mixer Pioneer Electronics (USA)'s Pro Audio and Video Division introduced the DJM-700, which joins the ranks of the DJM-1000 and DJM-800, and further adds 96kHz / 24-bit full-digital outputs for the high sound quality, effect frequency filter, assignable MIDI and various audio effects. The DJM-700’s high quality construction follows the same cues as its DJM-1000/DJM-800 predecessors by utilizing a high-rigidity chassis that minimizes noise from unnecessary vibration as well as a dual shield structure to eliminate entry of digital noise and full balanced output circuitry. Internally, the DJM-700 sound quality is re-enforced with a high quality 96kHz / 24-bit digital sampling system. Analog signals from the player pass through the mixer at the shortest signal route, digitized by 96kHz / 24-bit high quality sound A/D converter. The mixing is carried out by a 32-bit DSP. The Pioneer DJM-700 is the first mixer to include an Effect Frequency Filter that allows the user to limit the frequency bands subjected to effects. Conventional effectors are limited to manipulating the entire frequency range, whereas the Effect Frequency Filter now expands the user’s ability to showcase their own mixing style. The DJM-700 mixer also utilizes the same manual filter found on the DJM-800. The manual filter enables more intuitive settings for multi-layered effects expanding the DJs creativity with their music. Combining multi-effect options such as the Beat Effect, along with the manual filter allows for a wider range of DJ style and expression. The DJM-700 also features multiple effects that can be synced with its tempo (beat) capabilities:
DJs with external equipment such as DJ Effectors or DJ software applications that support MIDI control can rely on the DJM-700 to work in unison. Many of the dials and switch information of the DJM-700 can be converted to MIDI signal format. Up to 49 keys are assignable providing complete control of MIDI devices directly from the mixer with complete synchronicity. Additional Features:
The DJM-700 will be available in September 2007 with a suggested price of $1299. Specifications:
