DTS to Show First Public Demonstration of DTS-HD Master Audio via PC at Computex DTS announced that it will hold the first public demonstrations of DTS-HD Master Audio via a PC source during this year’s Computex in Taipei, June 5-9, 2007. The company will be showcasing its high-definition surround audio technology for the next generation optical disc formats utilizing a high-end desktop PC with a Blu-ray drive featuring DTS-HD Master Audio at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Taipei, Taiwan. Part of the Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD technical specifications, DTS-HD Master Audio delivers up to 7.1-channels of surround audio that is bit-for-bit identical to the studio master. With the introduction of the next generation formats, the PC industry is now integrating high definition technologies into desktop and laptop PCs for consumers. Throughout the show, DTS will also showcasing DTS Connect, which was designed to enhance the entertainment value of the PC platform. A DTS Connect-enabled PC provides two audio benefits to the consumer: DTS Interactive and Neo:PC for both multi-channel and stereo content. Taking full advantage of the maximum data throughput of the digital interface, DTS Interactive provides a single cable connection via S/PDIF digital audio output to a DTS-enabled surround sound system by encoding all audio into a DTS-compatible bitstream at 1.5Mbps. Samsung Unveils SGH-E590 Designed by Jasper Morrison Samsung Electronics and Jasper Morrison, a known industrial designer, cooperated to bring an attractive mobile phone, SGH-E590. The Samsung E590 is a solution for users who want to have all of the advanced multimedia features with eye-catching design in a hand. The stylish E590 comes in simple contours and clean lines which comprise this compact bar design. True to Jasper Morrison’s witty sense, the mobile phone has two faces: one side features phone keypad and LCD screen, while the other side is outfitted with dedicated camera functions. Toshiba Unveils Its First Notebook HD DVD Rewriter Toshiba today announced the world’s first slim HD DVD-RW drive for notebook PCs, the SD-L912A, that can read and write and rewrite to HD DVD-RW discs, and read and write to HD DVD-R discs and to standard DVD and CD discs. Sample shipments of the new drive are scheduled to start next month.  The new drive is compliant with the EU RoHS directive on environmentally hazardous substances, which came into force in July 2006. Toshiba will feature the new drive at the Toshiba Digital Media Network Taiwan Corporation booth (booth: B1234) at Computex 2007, which will be held in Taipei, Taiwan from June 5 to 9.
