Blizzard Liquid-Cooled X1900XTX From Sapphire Sapphire Technology has just introduced a new Blizzard liquid-cooled model in its Radeon X1900 series. Taking up a single PCI slot in addition to the PCI-Express slot occupied by the graphics card, the new Blizzard cooler is a sealed liquid cooling solution. Maximum efficiency is achieved by the use of a Pure Copper Water Block on the GPU together with a Pure Copper Radiator in the Blizzard cooler. Coolant is circulated with a 12V mini pump. Air is extracted from the case by an integral transparent blue LED fan, passed through the radiator and vented out of the case at the rear mounting bracket. Two speeds of operation are available (18dBA at 2000RPM, 26dBA at 2500RPM). Industrial-grade rubber tube links the GPU block with the rest of the system to minimize liquid evaporation and is fitted with stress relief springs supporting the tubes against damage or distortion at their connecting points. The Blizzard cooler was developed in conjunction with Thermaltake and is exclusive to Sapphire. ![]() The new Blizzard RADEON X1900XTX is the top performer in the RADEON X1900 series from Sapphire. This cooling system will allow enthusiasts to enhance performance well above the standard speeds of 650MHz engine clock and 775MHz (1550MHz effective) memory clock frequency using the Sapphire exclusive TRIXX overclocking tool supplied. Features of the X1900 series architecture include 48 pixel shader processors and 8 vertex shader processors together with a 512-bit ring-bus based internal memory controller. The novelty naturally supports 64-bit floating point High Dynamic Range rendering (HDR), blending capability and a new higher quality anisotropic filtering combined with up to 12x Anti-Aliasing when used in Crossfire mode. Two DVI outputs are provided and Dual-link DVI is supported with resolutions up to 2650 x 1600. The architecture also supports Avivo and is HDTV-ready. ![]() This one is from CeBIT 2006 Retail versions of these new Sapphire graphics accelerators are shipping with Sapphire Select. Each card is bundled with a DVD containing a selection of applications and games from several software houses. The end customer can play each of the games for a one hour trial before choosing which titles he or she wants to keep and using the activation codes for those titles. Source: Sapphire Technology

Panasonic Develops 4GB SDHC Memory Card Panasonic announced that it is developing a 4GB SDHC (SD High-Capacity) Memory Card based on the new SD Specifications Version 2.00. The new specifications were established to meet the growing demand for HD (High Definition) video and high-resolution image recording used in many SD enabled devices. The 4GB SDHC Memory Card is scheduled for global release in the summer of 2006. ![]() With the new specifications, it became possible to develop SDHC Memory Card with capacities up to 32GB. In addition, the new Specifications Version 2.00 specified to guarantee the minimum sustained data transfer speeds by establishing card performance classes (Class 2: 2 MB/s; Class 4: 4 MB/s; Class 6: 6 MB/s) for recording the streaming MPEG data. The previous versions of the specification did not provide such common standards for sustained data transfer speeds to be shared by all manufacturers. The new approach allows users to select card performance based on the needs of particular applications such as HD video and other MPEG applications with high data storage capacities. The new specifications continue to offer reliable copyright protection function, one of the SD Memory Card's most distinguishing features making it an ideal solution for digital content distribution.
