Introducing PANiXBTut Panoramic Camera
On the threshold of the 8th anniversary of iXBT.com we introduce our second camera. This model is intended for shooting vertical and horizontal panoramas with over 360° viewing angle, enabling easy production of cycloramas. The camera shoots in color and black&white as well as in the infrared range with the IKS1 filter. While the design and capabilities of our novelty will be described in detail in the coming articles, here we'll post just brief technical specs and several thumbnail images.
Specs:
- Sensitive element size: 28mm
- Max. horizontal panorama frame height: 2,550 pixels
- Lenses: with M42 mount and 45.5mm flange focal length; also supports 8mm wide-angle and long-focus lenses
- Controls: via a notebook
- Shooting range: 1m to infinity; can shoot cycloramas in small several-meter rooms; can shoot panoramas with very different distances to objects (these are usually rather hard to seam).
In the best tradisions of classic camera design, the body is made of luxurious wood.

Philips Offers Its Fastest ARM7-Based MCU
Royal Philips Electronics today announced three new additions to its LPC2000 microcontroller family: the LPC2101, the LPC2102 and the LPC2103. Based on the ARM7 TDMI-S architecture, the new LPC210x series can operate at speeds up to 70MHz (63 MIPs).
Philips' new ARM7-based MCUs also feature Fast I/O capabilities, which allow bit-toggling at a speed of 17.5 MHz. In addition, innovative power management features allow deep power-down mode current consumption - with the real-time clock running - to be less than 10 ľA. On-board communication peripherals include two 16C550-compatible UARTs, two Fast I2C-bus interfaces, two SPI/SSP interfaces, four timers with PWM capability and a 10-bit ADC.
Based on the ARM7 core, the LPC2000 family offers users comprehensive tools and development support environments from traditional 8-bit and 32-bit partners, including Keil, IAR, Nohau, Hitex, Ashling and ARM Inc. Development kits from IAR and Keil, including compilers and development boards, start at US$99 and US$149, respectively.
The LPC210x MCUs will be available starting in November 2005.

- Rewritten multi-processor (SMP/HT/multicore) monitoring and management code.
- Added on-suspend behavior selection; removed "Force Minimal State on Standby" option.
- Returned "Run HLT command when OS is idle" option as requested by users (Win32 only).
- Added determination of AMD Athlon 64 X2, Turion and Dual Core Opterons.
- Bugfixed AltVID settings on AMD K8 revision E cores.
- Corrected ODCM settings behavior on a Centrino platform.
