Vendors announce cards on RADEON X550 GPU
Yesterday a few PCIe x16 graphics cards on the yet unannounced ATI RADEON X550 GPU were introduced by several vendors. The new GPU has the same core as RADEON X300 (RV370), but its GPU clock is pulled up from 325MHz of the X300 to 400MHz, fillrate increasing to 1,600MTexel/sec from 1,300MTexel/sec. The new GPU has 4 pixel pipelines, 2 vertex pipelines and, according to other specs, seems to be just an overclocked version of RADEON X300. Anyway, RADEON X550 is listed in the INF file of the up-to-date ATI CATALYST 5.6 drivers.
As for the cards, Hightech Information System (HIS) from Hong Kong released its HIS X550 iFan featuring 128/256MB of 500MHz DDR SDRAM with 128-bit bus, D-Sub/DVI/TV outputs. As the model name implies, the card has HIS proprietary iFan cooling mechanism that works at below 20dB noise level.
Another two novelties are GECUBE RADEON HM550 128MB HyperMemory Series and GECUBE RADEON X550 PCIe 128MB HyperMemory Low Profile Edition announced by Taiwanese Info-Tek. Both cards have 128MB memory, but the buses vary: the former has 128-bit one, while the latter features a 64-bit bus. Interfaces are usual: D-Sub/DVI/TV.
