Today AMD introduced the senior solution for its Geode series designed for mobile and embedded platforms operating under Windows XP and Windows XP Embedded. Being fully x86-compatible, these CPUs are suitable for portable players, single-board PCs, Internet consoles, HDTV receivers/recorders, thin clients, tablets, etc. AMD Geode LX 800@0.9W operates at 500MHz (has 800 vendor rating) and consumes 0.9W of energy, typical system consumption being just 2.1W. It also doesn´t require active cooling. The standard variant supports DDR memory and USB 2.0 interface, other circuitry can be tailored for the needs of end users. The developer support is announced for at least the next 5 years. Geode LX 800@0.9W CPU and Geode CS5536 chipset are available now for $45 in over 10,000-unit quantities. Source: AMD
AOpen launches production of Aeolus PCX6600 DV128LP graphics card AOpen launched production of the new Aeolus PCX6600 DV128LP graphics card based on NVIDIA GeForce 6600 like the recent Aeolus PCX6600GT-DVH128. ![]() The novelty utilizes heatpiped cooling system. Its compact size enables to use it in all kinds of mini-barebones. Besides, the card supports HDTV and is bundled with a HDTV cable (up to 1920x1080). The vendor also claims the Aeolus PCX6600 DV128LP provides better TV quality (with an optional TV tuner). The graphics card has rather fast 2ns GDDR3 memory, supports Microsoft DirectX 9 Shader Model 3.0, is optimized for OpenGL 1.5, and has hardware acceleration of MPEG and WMV9. Source: AOpen
