AMD extends Geode series
Today AMD introduced the senior solution for its Geode series designed for mobile and embedded platforms operating under Windows XP and Windows XP Embedded.
Being fully x86-compatible, these CPUs are suitable for portable players, single-board PCs, Internet consoles, HDTV receivers/recorders, thin clients, tablets, etc.
AMD Geode LX 800@0.9W operates at 500MHz (has 800 vendor rating) and consumes 0.9W of energy, typical system consumption being just 2.1W. It also doesn´t require active cooling. The standard variant supports DDR memory and USB 2.0 interface, other circuitry can be tailored for the needs of end users.
The developer support is announced for at least the next 5 years. Geode LX 800@0.9W CPU and Geode CS5536 chipset are available now for $45 in over 10,000-unit quantities.
