N71, N90 and N91: original smartphones from Nokia

Nokia launched several new smartphones named N71, N90 and N91 that belong to the brand new N series.

The first one, N91, is to compete with Sony Ericsson W800. Therefore it supports MP3, AAC, WMA and M4A formats and has 4GB hard drive.

N91 specs:

  • EGSM/GPRS/900/1800/1900 MHz + WCDMA, EDGE
  • WCDMA – 384 Kbps, EGPRS/GPRS (class B/multislot 10) — up to 236.8 Kbps
  • 113.1x55.2x22mm dimensions
  • 160g weight
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
  • Nokia Visual Radio
  • 2Mp camera (1600x1200) digital camera, H.263, MPEG4 and RealVideo 8
  • 176x208 display of 262,144 colors
  • Series 60 interface
  • PC sync over USB2.0
  • Expected availability: late 2005
  • Price: €650-750

The second smartphone is slightly larger and has twice the resolution — 352x416. This is the first Series 60 based device with such a screen, and if N91 is positioned for audio playback, then N90 is meant for digital photos and video.



N90 specs:

  • EGSM/GPRS/900/1800/1900 ÌÃö + WCDMA, EDGE
  • 112x51x24mm dimensions
  • 173g weight
  • Up to 180 minutes of talking, up to 12 days of standby
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Nokia Visual Radio
  • 2Mp camera (1600x1200), Carl Zeiss lens, video recording and playback at 352x288, H.263, MPEG4 and RealVideo 8
  • MP3, AAC and RealAudio
  • 31MB built-in memory, RS-MMC slot (64MB card bundled)
  • 352x416 internal display of 262,144 colors, 128x128 external display of 65,536 colors
  • Series 60
  • HTML 4.01 browser
  • PC sync over USB2.0
  • Expected availability: Q2 2005

Finally, Nokia N70 is an improved variant of 6680, also with two cameras.

N70 specs:

  • EGSM/GPRS/900/1800/1900 MHz + WCDMA
  • 109x53x18mm dimensions
  • 126g weight
  • Bluetooth 2.0
  • Nokia Visual Radio
  • 2Mp camera (1600õ1200) with a flash and red-eye reduction + 0.3Mp (640x480) camera; playback and recording of H.263, MPEG4 and RealVideo 8
  • MP3, AAC and RealAudio
  • 30MB of built-in memory, RS-MMC
  • 176x208 display of 262,144 colors
  • Series 60 interface
  • HTML 4.01 browser
  • PC sync over USB 2.0 (Pop-port)
  • Expected availability: Q3 2005, a model with EDGE is also expected
