Plextor offers PlexFlash PX-F512-2 and PX-F1GB-2 USB dongles

Continuing to update its portfolio, Plextor offered two new USB 2.0 dongles: PlexFlash 512 MB PX-F512-2 and 1 GB PX-F1GB-2 (weighing up to 30 g).

At that novelties have 23 MB/s read and 13 MB/s write speed. For sale these are expected in mid-October for €105 and €125.

nForce 4: rumours at large

Various web resources are now delivering information regarding NVIDIA´s new nForce 4. They name different release dates (October 19 or 20) and amount of modifications (3 or 4).

OCWorkbench, referring to own sources, note that nForce 4 will include 4 models:

  • nForce 4 — 2 x SATA, AGP 8x, 1 GHz HyperTrasport, Socket 939
  • nForce 4 SLI — 2 x SATA, 2 x PCI-E, 1 GHz HyperTrasport, Socket 939
  • nForce 4 Ultra — 2 x SATA, 1 x PCI-E, 1 GHz HyperTrasport, Socket 939
  • nForce 4 scaled edition – 1 x SATA, 800 MHz HyperTransport, Socket 754

A number of web resources state that nForce 4 and nForce 4 Ultra will be released first, while nForce 4 SLI will catch up later. As for other features, they name DDR400 SDRAM, 8-channel Sound Storm 7.1 and LAN.

It seems nobody still have exact information, as besides Socket 939/754 some mass media mention Socket 940. But those aware of Socket 940 don´t know about nForce 4 scaled edition for some reason.

As always, only the time will tell.

Kingmax announces Mars DDR2 533 SDRAM series

Kingmax Semiconductor announced its new Mars DDR2-533 SDRAM DIMM series designed for Prescott/Tejas systems with 1067 MHz FSB. Modules are made of 0.10-micron components.

Novelties require 1.8 V voltage that reduces energy consumption by 50%. Solutions meet requirements of JEDEC as well as Intel DIMM specs for 925X, 915P and 915G chipsets. The complete series will include solutions for desktops, notebooks, workstations and servers.

Following the latest industry trends the modules are lead-free. The soldering material, temperature mode and other PCB and memory-making equipment parameters meet requirements of USA and European Union.

WVC54G — a new webcam from Linksys

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, released the new Wireless-G Internet Video Camera (WVC54G) webcam designed primarily for surveillance systems with monitoring over web. Unlike other webcams this model doesn´t require PC connection. It has own IP address, so it can be a part of both wired and wireless network.

WVC54G specs:

  • 640x480 MPEG-4 video
  • WLAN 802.11g
  • 10/100 Ethernet port
  • Built-in web server
  • Image change notifications in security mode
  • 4 channels for remote monitoring
  • Built-in mic and a jack for external mic
  • Viewer & Recorder (captures audio and video streams as well as date and time onto a local hard disk)
  • Supports SoloLink Dynamic Domain Name System (monitors webcam IP address and restores connection if it changes)
  • MSRP of $200

OCZ introduces EL DDR PC-3700 Platinum modules with 2-3-3-8 timings

OCZ Technology Group introduced EL DDR PC-3700 Platinum memory modules with 2-3-3-8 timings at 2.8V. OCZ PC-3700 EL DDR SDRAM DIMM are available separately in 512 MB capacities (OCZ466512ELPE), and in 1 GB dual-channel kits (OCZ4661024ELDCPE-K). The modules naturally have platinum-coloured heatsinks.

These unbuffered DDR466 SDRAM novelties are made using proprietary EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) technology that enables VDIMM up to 3.0±5% V and ULN2 technology for PCB protection from stray noise.

Casio unveils shock-, dust- and dampproof Cassiopeia DT-10

Casio unveiled the new Cassiopeia DT-10 PDA with 640x480 display. The novelty is to go on sale early in November.

The novelty bases on 416 MHz Intel PXA270, has 128 MB RAM and 64 MB flash ROM (20 MB free), Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Software for Pocket PC.

The device has 3.7" 65,536-color TFT display (80x140x25 mm size and 300 g weight). Besides, Cassiopeia DT-10 has Bluetooth (1.3) and IEEE 802.11b adapters, CompactFlash Type 2 and SDIO/SD/MMC slots. The claimed operation time is 27 hours.

Finally, Cassiopeia DT-10 has shock- (up to 1 m heights), dust- and dampproof case.
