Pentium 4 LGA775: a couple of details before the announcement

As the announcement of P4 and i925 & i915 draws near, we decided to shed more light on these novelties. So, according to our hardware testers, there are two interesting peculiarities.

First, note the pin layout. If there´s bad contact between socket and pins, the natural heating will with time press them together.

Second, pins are harder than usual, so you will hardly accidentally bend them. Still those strong and inquisitive should know that after several bendings/unbendings pins will naturally break. :)

And another detail, though you may already be aware of it: LGA775 socket is to live until 2007 and is designed for dual-core processors.

MSI NX6800Ultra T2D256: a new graphics card on GeForce 6800Ultra

MSI released its new card on NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra (NV40) GPU — MSI NX6800Ultra T2D256. This card has 256MB of GDDR3 memory operating at 1,100MHz (though it´s not the limit, Gainward makes 450/1,200MHz products). MSI NX6800Ultra T2D256 supports DirectX 9.0 and NVIDIA IntelliSample 3.0, CineFX 3.0, UltraShadow II.

Other features include 2048x1536 @ 85 Hz max. resolution, Anisotropic Filtering 16x, HDTV.

MSI NX6800Ultra T2D256 features ULTRA Copper Cooling with 26dB noise level and is bundled with MSI Media Center Deluxe II.

ELSA introduces GLADIAC 940 Ultra 256MB graphics card on GF 6800 Ultra GPU

ELSA introduced a novelty on NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU — GLADIAC 940 Ultra 256MB graphics card — that will go on sale on June 19 with MSRP of $730. According to the company, the first shipments will be limited due to GeForce 6800 Ultra GPU deficit. But this is promised to change to better after July.

  • 400/1,100 MHz clock rate
  • 256MB of 256-bit GDDR3 SDRAM
  • 400MHz RAMDAC

Max. supported D-Sub resolution is 2048x1526, while max. DVI resolution is 1600x1200. Like most company´s cards, this one features E.S.C.S II (2-generation Elsa Silent Cooling System) that includes copper/aluminium heatsink and a 65mm fan. Card interfaces include 2 x DVI-I, S-Video, 2 x power. The novelty requires at least 250W PSU.
