Pentax announces Optio S30 — unsutisfied with S40 sales?

Pentax rolled out itw new DSC, Optio S30 (3-Mpix model), that will hit the market early June .We reckon that the company is simply unsutified with sales of S40 that was announced in March and offers less-expensive (about $266) variant.

  • Image resolutions – 2048x1536, 1600x1200, 1024x768, 640x480; JPEG
  • Clips – resolution 320x240 pixels @ 30 fps; AVI (Motion JPEG)

  • Focal length – 38-114 mm (35-mm equiv.), F2.6-4.8
  • Minimal shooting range – 0.4 m; in macro mode – 0.18-0.5 m, in super macro mode – 0.06-0.2 m
  • Screen – TFT LCD, 1,6"
  • PC connectivity – USB, PictBridge support
  • Memory – 11 MB built-in, Secure Digital (SD) cards
  • Power supply- CR-V3
  • Dimensions – 89x25.5x58.5 mm, weight – 175 g (with power supply, SD card)

WinFast A400TDH — Leadtek´s NVIDIA GeForce 6800 based card

According to Korean PCBee, Leadtek announced WinFast A400TDH, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 based card that comes after WinFast A400Ultra TDH(GeForce 6800Ultra), that was announced last month. The specifications seem do not differ from other vendors´ cards:

GPU clock — 350 MHz, RAM clock — 700 MHz (128 MB); two 400 MHz RAMDAC, maximal resolution — 2048x1536 pixels (85 Hz, 32 bit). Microsoft DirectX 9.0C, AGP8X, OpenGL 1.5, CG Language, NVIDIA CineFX 2.0, UltraShadow, Pixel Shader, Intellisample HCT, nVIEW support, DVI and TV-out. Just the same.


Acer TravelMate 2500 — new models coming

Acer presents the new Acer TravelMate 2500 Series notebook family. The new Acer TravelMate 2500 notebooks use Intel Pentium 4 processors up to 3.0GHz (with HyperThreading technology supported on models with 3.0Ghz) and 512KB L2 cache. An ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP chipset is used. The TravelMate 2500 comes with a built-in DVD/CD-RW combo drive or, depending to the model, DVD Dual drive. 256/512MB DDR333 memory is scalable to 2,0GB and the ATA/100 Hard Disk is minimum 40GB.

Acer TravelMate 2500 notebooks offer complete multimedia functions: Active Matrix 14,1” or 15” TFT display with 1024 x 768 resolution, built-in ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP video card with DDR shared memory up to 64MB, DualView function, simultaneous LCD and external CRT monitor display, SoundBlaster-Pro and MS-Sound compatible audio system with built-in speakers.

Acer TravelMate 2500 connectivity is guaranteed by the built-in 56Kbps V.92 modem/fax and Ethernet 10/100-Base-integrated network adapter while Acer IEEE 802.11g interface,
standard according to the model, permits Wireless connections in the office or public “Hot spots” increasingly easy to find in large hotels and airports.All models of the family include a complete set of I/O ports: a parallel port, four USB 2.0 and a FIR port; a VGA connector for an external monitor and two 32bit type II PCMCIA CardBus slots or one type III CardBus slot are also available.

According to the company, TravelMate 2500´s lithium ion battery powers the notebooks for up to 2 hours. These notebooks are pre-installed with Microsoft Windows XP Professional Edition (Recovery CD supplied). Standard software includes, in addition to a complete series of system utilities (Acer Notebook Manager, Acer Launch Manager) for better system configuration, other programs such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, Norton Antivirus (trial version), CyberLink PowerDVD and NTI CD Maker to burn CD or DVD.
