DTR Athlon 64-3200+ processors seen in retail Gigabyte announces entry-level RZ boards Dell Inspiron 9100: a notebook on 2.8GHz Prescott DTR Athlon 64-3200+ processors seen in retail According to our colleagues from Japan, AMD´s DTR (Desktop replacement) Athlon 64-3200+ processors have been seen in retail recently. They differ from other 64-bit AMD products (on the photo below is DTR Athlon 64-3200+ compared to a usual Athlon 64-3200+) and are designed for powerful mobile workstations (like ECS DeskNote).
![]() First, DTR Athlon 64-3200+ has smaller heatsink and the general appearance resembles Athlon XP but DTR Athlon 64-3200+ has 754 pins like ordinary Athlon 64 (DTR Athlon 64-3200+ is to the left on the photo).
![]() Second, such processors have a slightly different model name, AMA3200BEX5AP. Similar to usual Athlon 64-3200+ CPUs, which names start with "ADA", I guess "AMA" exactly stands for the DTR class. The rest of description is "3200" — CPU rating (2GHz actual clock rate), "B" — 754 pins, "E" — 1.5V voltage, "X" — max. operating temperature of 95°C, "5" — 1MB L2 cache.
![]() According to our Japanese source, these processors have lower energy per time unit value of 81.5W (vs. 89W of a usual Athlon 64-3200+ and 62W of Mobile Athlon 64).
![]() Therefore, the price of DTR Athlon 64-3200+ in Japan is slightly higher than that of its desktop bro. Source: ASCII24

The new series was inspired by the success of GT line (by the way, "R" stands for reliability, real performance, right value). In general, I can state that high-speed LAN, USB 2.0 ports and 6-channel audio codec are now natural for any system board. Source: VR-Zone
Dell Inspiron 9100: a notebook on 2.8GHz Prescott Dell unveiled its new Inspiron 9100 notebook claimed to provide desktop performance.
![]() There are two versions offered that feature 2.8GHz Pentium 4 (Prescott), MOBILITY RADEON 9700 core (64MB or 128MB), 15.4 WXGA (1280x800) or WUXGA (1920x1200) display. Other features are rather standard: 512MB or 2GB DDR400 SDRAM, 40GB or 80GB HDD, DVD-ROM/CD-RW. Besides, the senior model also has an FDD and supports WLAN (IEEE 802.11b/g). Both models have i865PE chipsets and standard ports: 4 x USB2.0, IEEE 1394, PC Card Type II, (15-pin D-Sub), DVI-D, S-Video, etc. Sized 359x274x51mm, each model weigh 4.1kg. The standard Li-Ion battery provides 1.5 hours of operation. Dell Inspiron 9100 costs $1,549 and over. Source: PC Watch
