NEC introduces 61" plasma display — PX-61XM2P

NEC introduced the 61" plasma display, PX-61XM2P, that should arrive for sale on February 10. Though undisclosed, the price of this novelty in Japan is expected to make about $18,800.

The display supports WXGA (1365 x 768) resolution, 15-pin D-Sub, BNC, DVI-D, composite video BNC, RCA, S-Video as well as RGB/NTSC(3.58/4.43)/PAL(B,G,M,N)/PAL60/SECAM/HD/DVD/DTV. The model has 2x9W speakers.

The maximum energy consumption is 540W, the model requires 100V, 50/60Hz AC. Sized 1470x119x880mm, it weighs 61kg.

Ego Systems now owns Hoontech and ST Audio trademarks

Many of us still remember the names of excellent consumer and professional audio devices from Hoontech. Pity, but this well-known company ceased to exist, and its remains were purchased by another well-known sound equipment manufacturer, Ego Systems (ESI).

According to the contract, Ego Systems receives all rights for the ST Audio trademark. ESI is to develop, produce and distribute the new pro audio solutions under the ST Audio brand and provide technical and drivers support for existing products at ST Audio website.

Elpida launches volume production of 2GB registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules

Japanese Elpida Memory launched the volume production of its 2GB registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules on 512Mbit chips. Currently these modules provide one of the highest bandwidths available on the server market alongside 4.3GB/s throughput (PC2-4300). The modules are 4.8mm thick due to the stacked BGA packaging.

The utilized EBE21RD4ABHA-xx memory chips provide throughput up to 533Mbps and are organized 256M words x 72-bits x 2 rank (36 x 0.11µm chips). Other features include programmable packet length (4,8), CL = 3, 4, 5, and 1.8V voltage. In other words, these 240-pin DIMM with ECC fully meet the JEDEC requirements.

Gigabyte GV-N595U-GT: high-end graphics on GeForce FX 5950 Ultra GPU

Today Gigabyte announced its new GV-N595U-GT AGP 8X card on NVIDIA GeForce FX 5950 Ultra clocked at 520MHz. The new model has 256MB of 256-bit memory, complete bunch of interfaces, and supports VIVO and TwinView.

Gigabyte GV-N595U-GT is supplied with a comprehensive software bundle, including PowerDVD 5.0, 3D Album, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, Rainbox Six 3: Raven Shield îò Tom Clancy, Arx Fatalis.

P.S. For the sake of justice I must say that Gigabyte plans to ship one more card on GeForce FX 5950 Ultra — GV-N595U256V — that at the first glance differs from GV-N595U-GT by not supporting the Gigabyte V-TUNER overclocker utility.

EPoX graphics cards: classification, first photos, shipment dates

For the first time we got to know that EPoX was planning to enter the graphics cards market as far back as the last Autumn. However the first confirmed information about EPoX graphics cards became available only now introduced by the company itself.

As the produciton partner EPoX selected NVIDIA. And we already know that the company will be advancing the entire series from GeForce MX440/MX4000 and FX5200 to FX5950 Ultra. But, judging by the photos of EM440/EM4000 (GeForce MX440/MX4000) retail boxes, the first products we should actually see would be low-end.

Inexpensive graphics on GeForce MX440/MX4000 and FX5200 should be marked with EM prefix, while the cards on GF FX5700 and GF FX5950 Ultra should be marked EF. For example, a GF FX5950-based model will be marked EF595.

Our Chinese colleagues from PC POP who visited the EPoX´s official presentation on January 10 reported that novelties on NVIDIA GF4 MX440-8X, MX4000, and GF FX5200 should arrive to Chinese retail these days already.

And finally some photos from EPoX presentation in Peking:

Gigabyte GN-BR404W: a new wireless VPN router

Gigabyte introduced its new wireless VPN router, GN-BR404W, intended for mid- and small businesses.

GN-BR404W supports 802.11g, 64/128/152-bit WEP encryption, 802.1x authentification and authorization. It has 1 x WAN port and 4 x LAN ports and can be connected to other similar routers via (E)WDS (Extended Distribution Wireless System).

ATI unveils its new high-end FireGL X2-256t graphics card

ATI Technologies extended its high-end series with a new FireGL X2-256t solution. It´s not hard to notice there are but few changes comparing to the previous FireGL X2-256. Just the FGL 9800 GPU was replaced by higher-clocked FGL 9800XT as it was with the Radeon 9800/9800XT. However it has the same four geometry engines and eight parallel rendering pipelines.

The other features didn´t change at all: 256MB of 256-bit DDR II memory, dual DVI-I, drivers certified for 3dsmax, SolidWorks, MicroStation, Maya, and Softimage XSI.

The professional FireGL X2-256t graphics card will be introduced already this week in ATI´s partners workstations. The MSRP of FireGL X2-256t is $899.
