Elpida launches volume production of 2GB registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules
Japanese Elpida Memory launched the volume production of its 2GB registered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM modules on 512Mbit chips. Currently these modules provide one of the highest bandwidths available on the server market alongside 4.3GB/s throughput (PC2-4300). The modules are 4.8mm thick due to the stacked BGA packaging.

The utilized EBE21RD4ABHA-xx memory chips provide throughput up to 533Mbps and are organized 256M words x 72-bits x 2 rank (36 x 0.11µm chips). Other features include programmable packet length (4,8), CL = 3, 4, 5, and 1.8V voltage. In other words, these 240-pin DIMM with ECC fully meet the JEDEC requirements.
