ASUS sells P4R800-VM-UAYZ motherboard on ATi RADEON 9100 IGP

ASUS, according to say25, launched sales (only in Korea) of its P4R800-VM-UAYZ microATX motherboard (tested as P4R800-VM in our testlab) based on ATi RADEON 9100 IGP + IXP 200 chipset and designed for Pentium4 with 800/533/400MHz FSB.

The board has 4 DIMM sockets for up to 4Gb of PC3200/2700/2100/1600 unbuffered memory w/o ECC. The rest includes AGP 8x/4x slot (1.5V), 3 x PCI slots, 2 x UATA 100/66 channels (PIO 0-4), and 3COM 10/100Mbps Ethernet.

Lexar introduces new CF readers for professionals

Lexar Media, Inc. introduced two new portable CompactFlash readers for professional photographers. Instead of making one reader with two interfaces, the company released one FireWire and one USB2.0 model (400 and 480 Mbps, respectively).

Lexar USB 2.0 CF Reader

Sized like a pack of 4xAA batteries, devices weigh about 42g. Both readers feature protective covers to prevent CompactFlash cards falling out during transportation. The MSRP of the USB2.0 model is about $25, of the IEEE1394a model – about $50.

Pentium 4 with 800MHz FSB to be encased into new package

Intel released another newsletter to announce the new package for its 0.13µm Pentium 4 processors with 512Kb L2 cache and 800MHz FSB. Now in the market there will be two packages for processors with identical D-1 stepping, 0F29h CPUID, electrical and thermal specs.

For the difference between the packages see the photo below.

I guess the key difference is the 3.75mm height vs. the previous 3.46mm. Besides, the new package features 8-layer board vs. the older 6-layer. Finally, there are now 30 capacitors instead of 12.

Chip shipments were launched on October 24. The newsletter is related to the following CPU models:

  • 3.20GHz Intel Pentium 4 (RK80532PG088512), S-Spec — SL6WG, D-1 stepping
  • 3GHz Intel Pentium 4 (RK80532PG080512), S-Spec — SL6WK, D-1 stepping
  • 2.80GHz Intel Pentium 4 (RK80532PG072512), S-Spec — SL6WJ, D-1 stepping
  • 2.60GHz Intel Pentium 4 (RK80532PG064512), S-Spec — SL6WH, D-1 stepping
  • 2.40GHz Intel Pentium 4 (RK80532PG056512), S-Spec — SL6WF, D-1 stepping

TerraTec announces Cameo 200 RT – FireWire video editing kit

TerraTec launched the production of CAMEO 200 DV FireWire controllers that enable users to connect DV/D8 via FireWire.

Essentially, Cameo 200 RT is a PCI card with FireWire ports and necessary cables supplied with a comprehensive software bundle for realtime video editing and DVD recording: Ulead Video Studio 7, Ulead Movie Factory 2, Cyberlink PowerDirector Pro 2.0 DE. Cameo 200 RT is expected in retail in the nearest future.

Intel and Julien Macdonald take care of Centrino ladies

Such a surprising news from Intel: Julien Macdonald, the popular fashion designer, designed three new exclusive handbags for ladies that use Intel-based notebooks. In its press release Intel underlines the combination of such handbags with "21st century wireless lifestyle" (based on Centrino, of course.)

Handbags are available in three colors: white, fuchsia and black. Not aimed for volume production, Julien Macdonald´s novelties will be manufactured in limited quantities and sold in selected boutiques, and will also be distributed at Intel´s press conferences. All sales revenues will be used in charity acts.

Such a "hi-tech" news :-) I guess not all the ladies will carry notebooks in these handbags – like some years ago men carried notebook bags just because of their comfort. Besides, you shouldn´t be sure that every such bag you see is be made by Julien Macdonald. As you know goods in demand are sold in more places than "selected boutiques". But it´s quite another matter that, perhaps, the new fashion was shaped by Intel itself.

P.S. Men are already taken care of...
