Inno3D Tornado GeforceFX 5200 128MB Review @ Techseekers.net

"In short, although the Geforce FX 5200 is the baby of the family it offers adequate performance for the casual gamer with good overclocking potential yielding a 10%-15% performance increase in most games on a typical P4 2.53Ghz. With an expected retail of around the ˆ120-ˆ140 euro mark, it represents very good value for money."

ASUS P8NBX = NVIDIA nForce3 Pro + AMD Opteron

South Korean Darkcrow posted the first photos of the new (and seems the only for now) NVIDIA nForce3 Pro-based Socket 940 board for AMD Opteron processors — ASUS P8NBX.

NVIDIA nForce3 Professional is a chipset for single-CPU workstations on 64-bit AMD Opteron processors supporting both 32-bit, and 64-bit modes. Besides, combines North and South bridges in a single chip, being NVIDIA’s first single-chip motherboard solution. The current nForce 3 Pro 150 supports 10/100 BaseT Ethernet/Fast Ethernet, ACR and CNR, ACPI 2.0, RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 3 Ultra ATA-133 channels, 6 USB2.0 ports (OHCI), AGP8x (optimized for NVIDIA Quadro), PCI. nForce 3 Pro 250, expected in Fall, will support 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet, 4 Serial ATA ports and 2 ATA-133 channels.

Via P4PB Ultra P4X400 Motherboard Review @ Tweaknews.net

"The P4PB Ultra motherboard is Via´s flagship (as of this date) motherboard and is manufactured to target the performance enthusiast genre of computer users. Like most motherboard manufacturers, the board is only part of your purchase. As a bonus, the consumer will receive a whole buffet of extras to compliment their new computer and to get it looking and performing at its best."

ATI to announce new Pentium 4 chipsets: RS300 and RS300VE

According to Parisian Clubic, referring to own sources, at Computex 2003 in June (if it’s held) ATI plans to announce its new integrated Pentium 4 chipset codenamed RS300.

RS300 is to support existing Pentium 4 and future Prescott, 800MHz FSB, HyperThreading and dual-channel DDR400. RV250 DirectX 8.1 GPU (Radeon 9000) will be supposedly used as integrated graphics.

Besides, a lighter version — RS300VE – supporting usual DDR400 is also expected. According to provisional information, MSI and FIC already show interest in these novelties to come.

HWZ article: AMD Opteron Overview

"Looking further down the road, the AMD Opteron may require a different socket layout if it undergoes a drastic memory controller change, such as incorporating a DDR II controller and this is where we think there´s potential inflexibility of this design. However, even Intel´s server class series is dotted with various CPU interface variants, so although this may seem fine, it would be advantageous to AMD if they can keep the same interface for some time to come. This is as far as we can speculate at this point of time, but if all the pieces fall in place perfectly for AMD, the Opteron could be ´the next big thing´ in the modern computing era."
