They’ll feature 0.13-micron process technology and 533MHz reference clock. New RDRAM chips are mainly intended for 10Gbps OC-192 comm devices and server or workstation RDRAM RIMM PC4200 modules. Further the company plans to move to 1200 and 1333 MHz 288Mbit RDRAM chips.
Notebook and monitor LCD prices stop dropping According to Nikkei Sangyo Shimbun, the reduction of notebook LCD prices, that started in July, has finally finished. 12", 14.1" and 15" panels froze at $170-190, $170-180, $205-215, respectively.Besides, January prices for monitor LCD panels remained at $160-170. Magellan Meridian Color: a new color GPS device Thales Navigation announced a new Magellan Meridian Color GPS receiver. It features 16-color 120x160 LCD display, 16Mb map database and other info. SD card connectivity enables to load more maps for USA, Canada and Europe.![]() 12-channel receiver, supporting WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System), operates with 4-leaved spiral antenna, providing ~3m location precision. At that the user can choose from 7 customizable visual outputs, including the "live" map. Meridian Color can store up to 500 checkpoints per route (up to 2000 checkpoints total), up to 20 routes with 30 checkpoints each, and allows for single-click checkpoint saving. In addition, Meridian Color is encased into waterproof body, (IEC-529 IPX7), weighs 227 g and requires 2xAA batteries. The bundle includes the PC cable.
NEC announces new tablets and notebooks NEC has recently announced a new tablet. The sales of NEC LaVie TB for home users will start in the first half of February in Japan. According to NEC, measured 224x297x15 mm and weighing 1.02 kg, it’s the lightest and thinnest Tablet PC in the world. Later the novelty will appear in North American and European shops. Besides, the company plans to release the business version VersaPro (VA93J/GL).![]() NEC LaVie TB (TB700/5T) works under Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, bases on integrated ALi CyberALADDiN-T and features 10.4" 1024x768 (XGA) LCD display, 933MHz ULW Pentium III-M, 256Mb RAM, 20Gb HDD, a number of interfaces, including IEEE 802.11a/b. Built-in batteries provide up to 3 hours of operation. The price of NEC LaVie TB starts from $2100, VersaPro VA93J/GL business variant will cost about $2500.
