Intel to reduce chipset prices in 2003 Taiwanese mass media informed that in Q1 2003 Intel is expected to reduce chipset prices (except integrated solutions) that should boost the competition in this market segment.Perhaps, Intel plans to get rid of piled-up discrete chipsets, demand for which decreased comparing to that for integrated graphics cards, and pave the way for Springdale and Canterwood in Q2. Intel might also purpose another aim: to expand the presence on the self-assembly market. So, prices are to be reduced today and on March 30 (on the threshold of Springdale). From December 30 845PE and 845E will cost $30 and $26. To compare: SiS645DX and SiS648 ñîñòàâëÿåò cost $18 and $23.
