NVIDIA GeForceFX in the iXBT.com!

Just want to assure you, NVIDIA GeForceFX cards are the real thing :) And some of our colleagues can prove it.

Introducing the first photos of NVIDIA GeForceFX made in our videolab.

And this smiling person, A. Vorobyev, even got very close to the card. :)

The photo of AMD Barton

Taiwanese OC today announced perhaps the first photos of new Barton-based AMD Athlon XP.

Let’s see what the marking means — AXDA1833DKT4D. Athlon XP (AXD), A – desktop, 1833 MHz (how much is it in QuantiSpeed?), D — OPGA, K – 1.65V core voltage, Ò — +90°C temeprature limit, 4 – 512Kb L2 cache, D – 333MHz FSB.

So, it’s none other than AMD Barton with 512Kb L2 cache and 333MHz FSB. The crystal is slightly larger than Thoroughbred 84 sq.mm due to doubled cache. According to WCPUID V3.1, the chip is Model 10 stepping 0.

Taiwanese overlockers have even sped up this chip a bit. 2323MHz clock (185 x 12.5) was achieved using usual air cooling, that speaks for the good o/c potential. A bit confusing is that Barton supports 333MHz FSB instead of recently announced 400MHz. However, this is just an engineering sample, and we might see Bartons with various FSB in the future.

On the Radeon 9500 performance: 256-bit memory interface? You’ve got it!

I recommend you to read the review by Andrew Vorobyev Sapphire Atlantis RADEON 9500 128MB, testing in DOOM III v.0.02 posted today. If you are not willing to read it all, I strongly recommend you to get acquainted with the theoretical part, containing unprecedented results of 128Mb Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500 examination.

Do you remember the difference of Radeon 9500 memory interface from Radeon 9x00 series? Right you are, 128-bit bus. However the testing in our videolab indicated the surprising design features. Naturally, the cards performed completely unlike the classic 64Mb Radeon 9500 with 128-bit bus.

Did I interest you? I guess the review is worth reading, in particular, if you plan on buying something like that...

DirectX 9.0 Release Candidate 1 available for download

Neowin.net posted a link to the new Direct X9 RC1 (dx9.0.389.1).

Remember, this is a beta, so it can´t be removed. It’s recommended to set System Restore Point before installing the software. The release works under Microsoft Windows 98/Me/2000/XP and doesn’t work under Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0

Download DirectX 9 RC1 End user.
