ASUS announces P4G8X Deluxe on Intel E7205 chipset

ASUS announced new Intel E7205 (Granite Bay) motherboard — P4G8X Deluxe.


It supports 3.06GHz+ Pentium 4, Intel Hyper-Threading, dual-channel DDR.

P4G8X Deluxe specifications:

Corsair updates XMS3500Ñ2 overclockers memory line

Today Canadian Corsair Memory announced new lower-latency versions of XMS3500 modules — XMS3500C2.


New modules, tested on Abit KD7 (KT400) system, have the following specifications:

  • Bus clock: 2 x 217 MHz
  • CAS latency: 2.0
  • RAS precharge: 3T (against former 4T)
  • RAS-to-CAS delay: 3T (against former 4T)
  • RAS active to precharge: 7T (against former 8T)
  • Command rate: 1T
  • 32M x 8, 5 ns DDR SDRAM chips

There will be the following versions released:

  • CMX512-3500C2 (black) or CMX512-3500C2PT (platinum): 434 MHz, 512MB, 64M x 64, 2-3-3-7-T1, 32M x 8
  • CMX256A-3500C2 (black) or CMX256A-3500C2PT (platinum): 434 MHz, 256MB, 32M x 64, 2-3-3-7-T1, 32M x 8

AMD dismisses 2000 workers

Today we could see the beginning of new AMD economic strategy, announced on October 7. The essence is to restore profitability and reduce process costs in 2003 by $350 million. Today’s 15% workforce cut is the part of the plan.

The workforce will be cut continuosly until Q2 2003, however already 1000 workers received dismissal papers today. So, the restructuring costs will make "several hundred million dollars" already in Q4.

MSI announces GNB Max on Intel E7205 (Granite Bay) chipset

Today MSI announced a new motherboard on Intel E7205 (Granite Bay). GNB Max supports Socket 478 Intel Pentium 4 with 400/533 MHzFSB and Hyper-Threading, also supports AGP 8x and dual-channel PC1600/2100 DDR SDRAM.


The board has ATX form-factor, features 4 DIMM sockets (up to 2GB Dual Channel DDR266 SDRAM), 5 PCI slots, AGP 8x, 10/100/1000 Gigabit LAN (Intel 82540), 5.1-channel audio (optional), IEEE1394, and Serial ATA. The board is suppied with PC2PC kit for Bluebooth support. GNB Max also supports traditional MSI´s Live Update 2, Fuzzy Logic 4, PC Alert 4, and is supplied with MSI DVD player.

Gigabyte announces GA-8INXP, P4 Titan 667 Series on Granite Bay chipset

Gigabyte Technology announced GA-8INXP ATX motherboard for Intel Pentium 4, based on Intel E7205 (Granite Bay) chipset.

Fujitsu PC adds to LifeBook B and LifeBook P1000 lines

Fujitsu PC announced new sensor notebook, having added higher-performance models to LifeBook B and LifeBook P1000 lines.



New Fujitsu LifeBook B Series feature 10.4" sensor LCD, 850MHz ULW (Ultra Low Voltage) Mobile Intel Pentium III-M supporting Enhanced Intel SpeedStep, built-in modem, 10/100 base-Tx Ethernet, WiFi (IEEE 802.11b), smart card reader, programmable user ID panel, Windows XP Home. The standard battery provides 5.5 hours of operation. New LifeBook Series cost $1899 and higher.



LifeBook P1000 series was updated with a miniature novelty on 800MHz Transmeta Crusoe TM5800 supporting LongRun, with 256MB RAM, 8.9" XGA sensor LCD, 30GB HDD, external 3.5" FDD, built-in 56K4 V.90 modem, 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b Wireless LAN, Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition. This configuration of P1120 model (FPCM20101) will cost about $1199.

Promise Technology announces SATA150 TX family

Today Promise Technology announced the family of new Serial ATA (SATA) controllers — SATA150 TX – fully supporting Serial ATA/150.


SATA150 TX currently includes SATA150 TX2plus with 2 independent SATA ports and one Ultra ATA ports (for IDE devices). Promise SATA150 TX4 supports up to 4 independent Serial ATA ports.


New controllers are based on Promise´s single-chip solution, including the controller and BIOS for automatic drive recognition. New controllers support 48-bit LBA, i.e. 137GB and over disks. New Promise SATA150 TX cards are compatible with 33 MHz and 66 MHz PCI bus.

Archos Technology announces Pocket Archos QDisk 60

Archos Technology added to the QDisk line of miniature external drives, having announced 60GB QDisk 60 supporting USB 2.0.


Archos QDisk 60 specifications:

  • 60GB ñapacity (up to 160GB models to be released)
  • Plug & Play
  • PC/Mac compatibility
  • 7200 RPM
  • 168x115x45 mm
  • 780 g

Archos QDisk 60 GB shipments have already started, the suggested price is $179.95.

Triplex announces the first Xabre 600 board

Taiwanese Triplex became the first graphics card maker to announce a solution on the hi-end SiS Xabre 600 GPU.


Xabre 600 seems to be the world-first 0.13-micron GPU. It works at 300 MHz. The card has 64MB of 3.3 ns 600 MHz DDR, packaged into MicroBGA casing. The card has analog, DVI and TV outputs. According to provisional data, 3Dmark showed 8652 result. I guess more details are to follow soon, as SiS isto officially announce this GPU at Comdex Fall.

NVIDIA announces mobile GeForce4 4200 Go supporting AGP 8X

NVIDIA announced new NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go — the first mobile GPU supporting AGP 8X.

It bases on well-proven GeForce4 Ti 4200 desktop GPU and has the same features and performance, and supports NVIDIA PowerMizer along with other proprietary technologies, including NVRotate and NVKeystone.

NVIDIA GeForce4 4200 Go has already been accepted by notebook makers. The first notebooks with this GPU will appear in Q1 2003.
