CEATEC: Blu-ray Disc product prototypes

At recent CEATEC JAPAN 2002 almost all members of Blu-ray Disc consortium showed their product prototypes.

Blu-ray-enabled devices were presented by Hitachi, Matsushita Electric, Pioneer, Royal Philips, Sharp, Sony. Moreover, there were Blu-ray novelties from companies outside the consortium: Victor Co. of Japan, and TDK.

It´s interesting that Sony presented 3 Blu-ray devices, and others — only one each. Besides, Sony players were shown on the stands of TDK, that presented its Blu-ray discs with special protective cover, and Hitachi.

Matsushita Electric demonstrated its HDTV-quality Blu-ray player. It used single-sided dual-level 50GB Blu-ray disc, meeting Blu-ray 1.0.
