Mustek ships two new BearPaw 2400TA PRO and 4800TA PRO scanners
Mustek started to ship two new SOHO scanner models: BearPaw 2400TA PRO and BearPaw 4800TA PRO with a built-in slide adapter and USB 2.0.
BearPaw 2400 TA PRO and BearPaw 4800 TA PRO feature 48-bit analog-to-digital converters, USB 2.0 and TA-6 slide adapter. BearPaw 2400TA PRO provides 1200x2400 dpi optical resolution, BearPaw 4800TA PRO — 2400x4800 dpi, up to 19200x19200 dpi interpolated. The improved driver enables to scan compressed JPEG images directly tp files without display output, and automatically remove the document background in the GrayScale mode. Besides, the package includes the following software: "one-click" utility, Photo Express, and FineReader 4.0 Sprint.
The suggested retail prices are: BearPaw 2400TA PRO — $108, BearPaw 4800TA PRO — $158.
Canon announces PIXUS printer series
Canon announced four new ink printers, belonging to PIXUS series.
High-end PIXUS 950i is the leader of PIXUS I serie. Costing 59800 yens ($500), it supports up to 4800È1200 dpi resolution, 3072 colors. PIXUS 950i utilizes methods of reducing ink spot granularity and supports CD-R printing. Dimensions are 418È274È160 mm, interface — USB 2.0.
PIXUS 850i is less expensive and supports less colors (1600), but the same 4800È1200 dpi resolution. 850i printing speed is 22 b/w or 14 color pages per min. Dimensions are 418È274È159 mm, interfaces — parallel port and USB 1.1. The price is 44800 yens ($375).
Next one, PIXUS 550i, supports 1088 colors and provides 18 b/w and 11 color pages per min. Interfaces: parallel port and USB 1.1, dimensions: 418È274È159 mm. The printer costs 29800 yens ($250).
Finally, the fourth new model, PIXUS 320i, is designed for compact workspaces. PIXUS 320i is smaller than previous mentioned models (385È195È165 mm). It supports up to 2400x1200 dpi resolution, and 704 colors. Interface: USB 1.1. Price 19800 yens ($165).
All USB 1.1 printers support Windows 98/Me/2000/XP, Mac OS 8.6/9.x and Mac OS X. USB 2.0 functionality of PIXUS 950i is supported by Windows 2000/XP.

AMD announces Athlon XP 2800+ and 2700+
Yesterday evening AMD officially announced new Athlon XP 2800+ and 2700+ processors.
Athlon XP 2800+ is now the fastest Athlon XP processor. It works on 333 MHz FSB and supports 166.6 MHz DDR clock rate. Athlon XP 2800+ costs $397 in over 1,000-unit quantities, 2700+ — $349. Athlon XP 2600+ price cut has not yet been annnounced.
Real clock rates of Athlon XP 2800+ and 2700+ are 2.25 and 2.16 GHz, respectively.

Yesterday NVIDIA Corporation officially announced that NVIDIA nForce2 platform fully supports new AMD Athlon XP 2800+ and 2700+ with FSB 333 MHz.

New AMD Athlon XP, marked as 2800+ and 2700+, according to QuantiSpeed, differ from their Thoroughbred predecessors by 166 (333) MHz FSB. AMD Athlon XP 2800+ real clock rate is 2250 MHz, Athlon XP 2700+ — 2167 MHz.
