JEDEC: JEDEX Beijing planned to October
JEDEC, the semiconductor engineering standardization body of the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), uniting over 275 members in 50 committees, announced that one of the next conferences JEDEX Beijing will take place in Peking, China, on October 23-25, 2002.
The three-day conference includes seminars and a technical market to show the latest electronic developments. Seminar themes include the latest DDR and DDRII developments, no-lead chip creation technologies, WLAN realization, new chip packages, international standards adoption, etc.
JEDEX Beijing organizers include such companies, as Advanced Memory International, ALi, Intel, Kingston Technology, Micron, Molex, Motorola, Samsung Semiconductor and Transmeta.
Philips started licensing DVD standards
Philips announced the beginning of DVD ReWritable/Recordable systems patent licensing. This program will touch patents for all DVD+RW and DVD+R discs, drives, software as well as patent rights of Philips, Sony and Hewlett-Packard. As of DVD-RW / DVD-R discs and drives the program touches upon Philips, Sony and Pioneer patent rights.
Simultaneously, the company launched DVD players and discs licensing (DVD-Video and DVD-ROM patents belonging to Hitachi, Matsushita, Mitsubishi, Time Warner, Toshiba, Victor Company of Japan, Thomson Multimedia), DVD copyproof licensing (Macrovision), MPEG-2 Video licensing (the list, headed by Philips), DOLBY Digital AC-3 (Dolby Laboratories).

TerraTec audio: now for Apple Macintosh
From August TerraTec, the well-known German multimedia manufacturer, plans to strengthen its position on the audio market. The company is going to provide its "4G" cards with Macintosh drivers for OS X and OS 9.
TerraTec will provide them with all its fourth-generation 24-bit / 96 kHz cards: EWX 24/96, DMX 6fire 24/96, DMX 6fire LT, EWS88 D, EWS88 MT, and EWS MIC2/8.
