Walton Chaintech Launches APOGEE A-Series, C-Series, L-Series SSDs

Walton Chaintech Corporation today announced APOGEE A-series, C-series and L-series solid-state drives. All novelties incorporate the mainstream SATA 3Gbps interface, and are targeted at gamering, price-sensitive and entry-level segments, respectively.

The 2.5-inch APOGEE A-series SSD features SandForce & Intel MLC solutions, offers up to 285MB/s and 275MB/s read/write speeds, the random 4KB write of 50000 IOPS, the seek time/buffering time of 0.1ms. The TRIM feature is also available for the system to inform the A-series to block the data that is no longer considered in use and can be wiped internally. Finally, the APOGEE A-series can handle shocks up to 1500G. Sized 99.8x69.63x9.3 mm, it ranges in capacity from 60GB to 120GB.

APOGEE C-series SSD employs Indilinx Barefoot controllers and Intel MLC solution with a 64MB onboard cache. Also in a 2.5-inch form factor, it offers capacities from 30GB to 120GB. The read and write rates achieve up to 250MB/s and 180MB/s, respectively. These drives are marketed as having the best price-performance ratio.

The L-series SSD also employs Indilinx controllers plus Intel MLC solution with a 64MB onboard cache. Capacities range from 30GB to 120GB and the read and write rates are 125~150MB/s and 70~120MB/s, respectively. APOGEE L-Series SSDs are offered as entry-level solutions.
