How Much NVIDIA's Partners Pay For GeForce GTX 260/280?
Late last week NVIDIA's partners abruptly cut prices for GeForce GTX 260 and GTX 280 to make them more attractive comparing to Radeon HD 4850 and 4870.
HEXUS obtained information on how exactly NVIDIA's prices had changed for companies that sell reference novelties under own brands. (It's not a secret that high-end products are now available in the reference design mostly, excluding some liquid-cooled modifications.)
So, BFG, XFX, EVGA, Point of View and other partners obtain NVIDIA's products for the following prices:
- GeForce 9800 GTX: 165 USD
- GeForce GTX 260: 222 USD
- GeForce GTX 280: 392 USD
Considering the current retail prices, we can't say sellers' margin is too low. On the other hand, partners are obviously far from earning very much. Should we expect more AMD-based announcements from NVIDIA's long-time partners?
