LiPPERT embraces the EPIC standard The Hurricane-LX800 EPIC Module
The Hurricane-LX800 marks LiPPERT's entry into the market for EPIC-formatted single-board computers. It features the AMD Geode LX800 @ 0.9W processor and has very low power consumption.
The Hurricane-LX800 integrates all peripherals needed to build an embedded PC on a small 115 mm x 165 mm (4.5" x 6.5") printed circuit board. Using a CS5536 I/O companion and a Super I/O chip, all the standard peripherals are already on board. The system RAM can be as large as 1 GB, and graphics controllers with VGA, LVDS and TFT adapters are available. Ethernet, USB and serial ports make the Hurricane-LX800 a very versatile machine with good connectivity.
The Hurricane-LX800 uses only a mere 5.3 watts and can operate in the extended temperature range of –40° to +85°C without additional cooling. It is supplied with 5V only and does ACPI and PCI power management.
Trouble-free expansion is possible with the PC/104 and PC/104-Plus buses. The PC/104 bus has complete DMA functionality, enabling the reuse of existing peripheral boards. A miniPCI slot is available that can hold standard WLAN cards.
The Hurricane-LX800 runs the Windows XP, Windows XP Embedded, Windows CE, Linux and VxWorks operating systems. An enclosure is also available for system integrators. Application areas for the Hurricane-LX800 include industrial automation, automotive, medical devices, and military.
