C7-M ULV: Geode Killer From VIA
An addition to our report about VIA at CeBIT 2006, the company also showcased an ultra low voltage modification of VIA C7-M processor - VIA C7-M ULV. This x86-compatible novelty might be named a "Geode killer" - at 1 GHz to 1.5 GHz clock rates its rated peak TDP is just 3.5W. And the minimal TDP in standby doesn't exceed 0.1W.
The processor is encased into a nanoBGA2 body sized 21x21mm.
We guess VIA C7-M ULV is positioned for an UMPC (Ultra Mobile PC) segment, which now has only one tablet PC from OQO based on an earlier VIA's CPU.
