OCZ Announces Gamer eXtreme XTC DDR2 Series
OCZ announced the release of the first DDR2 modules designed to make use of the recently introduced OCZ XTC heatspreader design. The Gold series modules will come in PC2-4200 and PC2-5400 configurations ranging from 512MB modules to 2GB dual channel optimized kits.
The Gamer eXtreme XTC DDR2 series features the XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) Heatspreaders that optimize the thermal management of memory modules by promoting greater airflow by means of micro-convection throughout what is usually the dead air space inside conventional heatspreader designs. In this manner, build-up of heat is avoided and thermal dissipation of the memory components is offloaded more efficiently through the honeycomb design. At the same time, mechanical stability is maintained.
Operating at 4-4-4 and 5-5-5 timings, these DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 solutions offer lower latencies than standard DDR2 modules. DDR2 XTC will be offered in 2GB dual channel kits.
