Intel E8870 supports Itanium 2 processors with 400 MHz FSB, up to 128 GB RAM (using 4 GB DIMM units) per each processor unit; it also features PCI/PCI-X support.

All the details about the new chipset are here.

ATI has also announced the support of Itanium 2 platform. The company offers its line of FIRE GL GPUs, with full 64-bit environment software support.

In general, many companies supported Itanium 2 yesterday, including Bull, NEC HP, ATI, NVIDIA LSI Logic, Qlogic, etc. It seems that Intel´s second-generation 64-bit processors have entered the market to occupy it for a long, long time.
