Intel began to ship Itanium 2: HP, Hitachi, NEC
Still continuing posts about new solutions based on 64-bit Itanium 2 processors from Intel.
I guess many know what Itanium 2, former McKinley, looks like. However, it hasn´t yet been shown without its special heat-sink and power supply system. So, here it is:
Now about solutions. Besides two servers, Hewlett-Packard, presented HP Workstation zx2000 based on two Itanium 2 processors and proprietary zx1 chipset.
Hitachi presented HA8500/630.2 server, supporting up to 8 Itanium 2 CPUs.
It´s the NEC TX7/i9000 rackmount server (up to 32 Itanium 2 processors), featuring TX7/i6000 units.
And that´s the TX7/i9000 unit with up to 4 Itanium 2 CPUs. On the internal view below, you can see that it´s double-sided, two Itanium 2 per side.
