AMD and 333 MHz FSB: information updated
Our colleagues from French INpact-Hardware published updated information about new AMD processors they believe to be completely true, as they´ve received it from their reliable sources. According to this post, the new AMD Σ FSB 333 νηΓ will be officially announced on October 7.
Boards on the following chipsets will theoretically support new CPUs (naturally, not all boards):
- VIA KT400 and even KT333 (unofficially, not all boards)
- NVIDIA nForce2
- SiS746
According to provisional data, the first 333 MHz FSB processor will be Athlon XP 2700+. In the beginning of the next year we´ll see Barton-based products (512KB L2 cache) supporting such FSB.
According to undisclosed sources, mobo makers have been developing 333 MHz FSB boards since the middle of August. The first chip samples are expected in September, followed by AMD certification program for new boards. Volume shipments of such boards and processors are expected in October.
