Godson-1á processor officially announced
Yesterday the new Godson processor core was officially announced in China.
It´s completely independent Chinese development. According to officials, first version samples Godson-1á feature 266 MHz clock rate and are made using 0.18-micron process technology. At that the energy consumption doesn´t exceed 0.5 W. The performance is said to be similar to the performance of SGI O2 MIPS R5000.

According to GZeasy, the new chip bases on MIPS architecture. And, by the way, "Godson" or rather "Gou Sheng" means that the developers wish their brainchild luck and further evolution.
The new processor was demonstrated in the Su Guang Linux system. This Linux version has also been developed in China. Other details might follow.
