UltraTrak RM4000: rackmount RAID from Promise
Promise Technology announced inexpensive (comparing to similar SCSI devices) ATA RAID UltraTrak RM4000 rackmount storage system.
1U module is designed for up to 4 Ultra ATA drives for RAID 5, 0+1, 1, 0, or JBOD arrays. It´s interesting that UltraTrak RM4000 connects drives to server or PC via usual Ultra160 SCSI, initialising it as a standard SCSI device.
The system is setup, monitored and controlled in one of three ways: using LCD panel buttons, terminal emulator command line, or through Promise Array Management (PAM) software for remote monitoring and control from a Windows machine over TCP/IP.
UltraTrak RM4000 supports online array expansion and conversion, hot swap. Large LBA support enabled to use over 137GB drives, so the total capacity can be raised to 800GB, using 200GB HDDs.
