Apple iMac and eMac: new models, new prices
Apple Computer announced new desktops with LCD monitors for iMac series and cut prices for previous iMacs and eMacs.
New high-end iMac model features 17" wide-format LCD monitor, 1GHz PowerPC G4 with 133MHz FSB, 256Mb DDR, 64Mb NVIDIA GeForce4 MX graphics, 4x DVD-R/CD-RW SuperDrive combo, built-in 54Mbps AirPort Extreme (802.11g) and Bluetooth wireless interfaces. The system costs $1799 in retail.
Another iMac novelty features 15" LCD monitor, 800MHz G4 and costs $1299 that’s $200 less than the initial price of its predecessor.
Both new models have 2 FireWire 400 ports and 5 USB ports each. No FireWire 800 support has been announced in them.
As for eMac series with 17" CRT monitors, now they cost $999 and over, and a model with SuperDrive costs $1299.
