CRW-F1 is the last CD-RW from Yamaha
Yamaha officially declared the intention to completely curtail its CD-R/RW drive business by March 2003. CD-RW production has already been stopped and the last consignments shipped to dealer warehouses.
But it doesn’t mean Yamaha is to leave this business segment. The company just plans to focus on DVD+R/RW devices. This migration will include all proprietary developments, including Advanced AudioMASTER and known DiscT@2 technologies.
Low CD-RW production profitability is main reason of migration: from the last Spring, when prices for optical drives were cut, Yamaha’s revenues have been continuously reducing.
