Dell Inspiron 8500: new notebooks with 15.4" LCD panels
Dell launches sales of Inspiron 8500 series featuring 15.4" LCD displays. Model configurations include 1280x800, 1680x1050, and 1920x1200 resolutions with 16:10 ratio.
Inspiron 8500 bases on Intel 845MP and 32Mb DDR MOBILITY RADEON 9000 graphics or 64Mb DDR GeForce4 4200 Go. All models support a number of modern interfaces. Standard batteries provide up to 3 hours of operation. Measured 361x274x38 mm, notebooks weigh about 3.3kg.
A model with 15.4" 1280x800 LCD panel, 1.90GHz Mobile Pentium 4-M, 256Mb PC2100 (up to 2Gb) 30Gb HDD, 24/10/24x CD-RW and Windows XP Home Edition will cost about $1750 (in Japan). A model with 15.4" 1920x1200 panel, 2.40GHz Mobile Pentium 4-M, 1Gb RAM, 60Gb HDD, 8/24/10/24x DVD/CD-RW and Windows XP Home Edition will cost about $3200.
