Cooling


Palit GeForce GT 240 Sonic 1024MB

The massive central heatsink only cools the core. The card is rather wide, occupying two slots in the PC enclosure. The fan is attached to the plastic housing. Its rotation speed is low, so the cooler is almost noiseless.
Inno3D GeForce GT 240 512MB

This cooler is similar. The fan is situated inside the heatsink, fins directed away from the centre. This fan is also slow (hence noiseless), and it also occupies two slots.
Zotac GeForce GT 240 AMP! Edition 512MB

The cooler is thin, occupying only one slot. The fan is not situated in the center of the large heatsink, but there's no cover to direct airflow. This cooler is a bit noisier.

Traditionally, we monitored temperatures using RivaTuner. The temperature difference was minor, and we published the results of only one card (Palit GeForce GT 240 Sonic 1024MB).

As you can see, the core temperature heating isn't critical, it doesn't exceed 70°C. This is a good result for a modern graphics card.
