Cables and lengths:

  • Fixed cables:
    • 1 x Main Power ATX 20+4-pin, 52cm
    • 1 x ATX12V/EPS12V 4+4-pin, 53cm
    • 1 x EPS12V 8-pin, 53cm
    • 1 x PCIe 6-pin, 57cm
    • 1 x PCIe 6+2-pin, 57cm
  • Modular cables:
    • 2 x PCIe 6+2-pin Power Cable, 57cm
    • 2 x Serial ATA Power Cable, 45cm to the first connector, 15cm to the second and the third connectors
    • 2 x 4-pin Peripheral + FDD Power Cable, 55cm to the first connector, 15cm to the second and the FDD connectors

The cables of XFX P1-650X-CAG9 are long enough for mini-tower, mid-tower and full-tower enclosures with PSU on the top, as well as compact mid-tower enclosures with PSU in the bottom. The ATX12V/EPS12V cables are too short for full-tower enclosures with PSU in the bottom, so you'll have to use extension cables.

The PSU can connect up to three graphics cards, each with two power connectors, as well as two CPUs. At the same time, it only has six SATA connectors on two cables, which may not always be enough, especially if you have three hard drives and at least one optical drive, most of which require SATA connectors these days.

Finally, there are six molex (peripheral) connectors and two FDD connectors.

Design

The PSU housing is made of 1mm steel. This isn't a typical solution, because usually PSU housing is 0.5mm-0.7mm thick. Most likely, XFX wanted to make the PSU as solid as possible to eliminate noise that may be caused by the vibration of certain PSU parts. This assumption is further confirmed by other design solutions. For example, the fan is attached to a special reinforcing frame, also made of 1mm steel, not the PSU top side, and is further cushioned by rubber washers. Besides, most coil parts are glued by sealing to eliminate noise.

Also note that XFX P1-650X-CAG9 only uses capacitors made by Nippon Chemi-Con Corporation. All of those are designed to withstand temperatures up to 105°C. The input rectifier features a 470µF SMQ capacitor, while the output stage features KZE capacitors.

The 135mm fan is covered by a plastic airflow booster panel of average-quality build and matching mounting. The panel covers 45mm, about a third of the fan's size.

The design and layout of parts indicate that the PSU is based on the Seasonic OEM platform.
