Heatsink design
The cooler has a horizontally-oriented heatsink and two fans sized 140x140x25 mm. Cooler dimensions are 140x166x130 mm, and it weighs 1015 g (w/o mounting).
The heatsink has a copper-aluminium baseplate sized 60x45x18 mm, 6 heatpipes 6 mm in diameter and 68 aluminium fins with the total square size of about 6500 cm².
Listed below are NH-C14 advantages:
- Large heat-transfer area;
- Optimal fin distance of slightly less than 2 mm, which guarantees efficient airflow even at minimal fan speed;
- Traditionally high build quality (good soldering of joints between baseplate and heatpipes as well as heatpipes and fins);
- Reasonable distance between heatpipes that minimizes cross-heating; heat emission areas of the central four heatpipes are situated where there's the highest airflow;
- Notched fins to improve the aerodynamic interaction between the fans and the heatsink;
- Good nickel-plating on all parts;
- Design elements adding to heatink's mechanical integrity.
