AMD Sempron X2 2100 Processor
|
Some time ago we examined performance of Low-End processors in Low-End Single/Dual-Core CPUs: Leisurely Computing and Intel Low-End Processors. However, our lab obtained a processor that represents the entire epoch (for its manufacturer at least), so it makes sense to get back to the Low-End topic one more time. Enters the first dual-core AMD Sempron!

** "X x Y" means "X KB per each of Y cores".
*** Specified differently in Intel and AMD processors, so a direct comparison would be incorrect.

* Means that two or more simultaneously active threads are actually present during tests; not just the fact that a process generates several threads.
We had a funny little problem determining which processor we got: the fact is we got an OEM processor without a box -- and designation on the processor does not indicate its product name, as it's always the case with AMD processors. In such situations we always rely on the omnipotent CPU-Z. But in this case we got strange results.
First of all, this processor is not listed at the AMD website (frankly speaking, we have failed to find its product page even with the correct name; the SDO2100IAA4DO index also returns nothing). We have managed to find the truth, but not at the official website. We have even found a box shot for this CPU, published by our Ukrainian colleagues. This image shows processor's correct name: "Sempron X2 2100". Some adventure.
