The engineers establish a single design of the nForce2 based board, and the
PCB on the integrated chipset is identical to that of K7NCR18D-Pro
based on the discrete one.

The downsides are IDE and FDD placed behind PCI slots and audio-ins place in
front of them; besides, the power supply connector is put in the center, next
to the CPU socket. It can be difficult to reach some jumpers when the board is
already installed. Their functions are shown on the textolite. 3-channel
switching voltage regulator incorporates 2 capacitors of 2200 uF and 8 of 1500
uF. Integrated controllers: - audio controller based on
the chipset's APU and Avance Logic ALC650 AC'97 codec; 5.1 audio system supported,
front audio outputs and SPDIF connectors provided

based on the chipset; 10BaseT/100BaseTX supported.

Smart I/O controller provides support for a SmartCard Reader (the connector is
integrated). Non-unsoldered connectors: none. System monitoring
is supported by Winbond W83627HF-AW chip. What is controlled: -
processor, AGP bus, memory voltages, +3.3, +5 V;
- speed of
3 fans;
- temperatures of the processor (built-in sensor) and the
board (built-in sensor).
There are 3 connectors for adjustable
connection of fans (one of them is connected to a fan on the north bridge's heatsink).

We used the BIOS of 27.01.2002 as the latest available version.
The developers focused on the features really useful in home rather than on
peripherals support. That is why decent characteristics and good adjustable and
overclocking settings can make it a good solution for an advanced home PC especially
considering its quite low price. Test results:
