June 6-10, 2006: Computex'2006: ASUSTeK

The giant of the IT industry occupied a stand near Foxconn, inferior to the latter only in height of its buildings. But there were a great number of slogans. :)

Let's start with mobile solutions - it's a relatively new branch of the company, so it's very interesting to keep tabs on the new products and trends.

Multimedia devices are of the special interest - compact audio and video players as well as integrated or stand-alone GPS navigators. Of course, mobile handsets don't fall behind in functions and rich display features.

Let's proceed to notebooks in continuation of the mobile topic. ASUSTeK has become a true king in manufacturing notebooks on the Russian market of late. The expo exhibited a wide range of such computers, which have taken a decent share of the market from traditional computers.

And now let's proceed to what ASUSTeK started manufacturing in the first place. This field is still paid much attention to, so the company offers the widest range of products. New products in the first place. They are motherboards for various price segments on the new chipsets from Intel (945/965/975) as well as NVIDIA nForce 5xx.

VIA and SIS chipsets are not forgotten either.

Of course, IT weight-lifting is not forgotten either. We mean server solutions. The company presented a wide range of motherboards for these purposes:

Server motherboards and servers. Besides, ASUSTeK has already become a famous and very influential manufacturer of ready server solutions, especially in a unit form.

Server or no, workstation or desktop, they all cannot work without a video card. ASUS has as much experience in this sphere as in manufacturing motherboards. So the range is very wide. Besides, the company manufactures video cards based on ATI and NVIDIA GPUs. We'll show you the latest products.

ASUS wouldn't have been ASUS, if it hadn't manufactured a number of miscellaneous original solutions. For example, wireless solutions for notebooks and PCs, which can work even when they are in sleep mode. Or MP3 players that can be connected to a PC and use its audio system, even when the computer is off.

There are also plenty of cooling systems (ASUS occupies a certain niche here as well). IT has recently experimented with a game physics accelerator based on Ageia PhysX. Unfortunately, we cannot tell so far whether it's successful or not. It's too early to speak of practice so far.

What's left for us is to demonstrate PC cases and barebone-kits.

Oh, how come! We have completely forgotten about the new field that the company is mastering now: LCD monitors and multimedia solutions! I'd like to mention that ASUS also manufactures TV-tuners (greetings to Alexei Samsonov! :-) )

We'd like to thank the ASUS representative in Russia, Alexei Voronkov, who showed us the stand.

In conclusion of this part we traditionally offer some photos.

In the next part of this article we are going to review the stands of Chaintech and a number of other companies.
