Game Bugs
June 2007

This section describes bugs we find in games we test graphics cards with. From February 2005 on we launched the bug archive and redesigned this section.

If you find any bugs or have any comments and worthy ideas regarding this section, please email Danil Gridasov.

Testbed

Currently graphics cards are tested in the following testbeds:

  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (2.4 GHz, 512x2 KB L2)
  • EPoX 9NPA+ SLI (nForce 4 SLI chipset, PCI Express x16/x8+x8)
  • 4GB of PC3200 RAM

From February 2007 on we check games for bugs with the latest drivers under both Windows XP (x86, SP2, DX9), and Windows Vista. From June 2007 on we moved to the 64-bit Windows Vista (6.0, Build 6000):

  1. Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (including a number of post-SP2 updates) and DirectX 9c.
  2. Windows Vista (64-bit Edition) with updates from Windows Update and DirectX updates.

Until July 2005, the testbed has the following configuration:

  • Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz (800 MHz FSB, HT Enabled)
  • ASUS P4C800-E (Chipset i875P, AGP 8x)
  • 1GB PC3200

Graphics cards

The following cards were used in making of this material:

Besides, the tests have also been run on:

Drivers

In the past month we used the following drivers for testing the graphics cards:

AMD Catalyst 7.6 (8.38.3) for Windows XP (32-bit)

  • Official reference drivers from ATI.
  • Released on 25.06.2007.

AMD Catalyst 7.6 (8.38.3) for Windows Vista (64-bit)

  • Official reference drivers from ATI.
  • Released on 25.06.2007.

NVIDIA ForceWare 162.18 for Windows XP (32-bit)

  • NVIDIA's official reference beta.
  • Released on 05.07.2007.

NVIDIA ForceWare 162.15 for Windows Vista (64-bit)

  • NVIDIA's official reference beta.
  • Released on 26.06.2007.
  • The same day NVIDIA removed it from the website supposedly due to erroneous code. But since they didn't post a fixed version within the next two weeks we decided to test the "bugful" reference drivers anyway.

We run games on beta drivers just to please our interest. Bugs noticed on leaked drivers are not published in this section. But this is theoretically possible if a really interesting beta is leaked or it has been to long since the last official release.
