model, this one lacks for an IDE cable. While it's excusable for Bulk and OEM
packages, a Retail bundle must have everything for connection of the drive.
The Nero Info Tool utility provides the following information on the AOpen's
recorder:
Again
we revealed one peculiarity of the AOpen's models. While the CRW2440 couldn't
record media with ATIP 4M (e.g. Mirex) at the speeds over 12x, the CRW 4048 allows
for maximum of 24x with the JustSpeed disabled.
It's
not a big downside as we offered the Mirex discs of the maximum speed of 24x,
but most other CD-RW drives can offer higher write speeds for media with such
ATIP. It's interesting that for all 10 discs we offered for the drive the speed
wasn't lower than 8x. As a result, the cyanine SKC was recorded at 8x.
The
exterior of the drive copies the previous models.
Like
the 24x model, the new one has a solid tray, i.e. without a flap lid. It houses
headphone jack, a mechanical volume control, an emergency ejection hole and one
small LED. The drive can be installed both in vertical and horizontal positions.
The tray drives out quickly right after you press the Eject button. The
drives makes much noise in operation, or even drones. Discs ejected from the CRW
4048 after intensive reading are quite warm. Back
