The New 3DMark is Out
Today Futuremark has launched the new version of its 3DMark benchmark tool. Now it can handle both mobile and desktop systems, using three tests included.
Fire Strike tests the performance of dedicated gaming PCs and high-end systems with multiple GPUs (with the Extreme preset). Fire Strike uses a multi-threaded DirectX 11 engine to test DirectX 11 hardware.
Cloud Gate tests the performance of notebooks and typical home PCs. Cloud Gate uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 10, making it suitable for testing DirectX 10 compatible hardware.
Ice Storm tests the performance of Windows tablets, ultra-portable notebooks or entry-level PCs. Ice Storm uses a DirectX 11 engine limited to Direct3D feature level 9. Users can compare Ice Storm scores from Windows, Windows RT, Android and iOS devices.
3DMark Basic Edition is free. It includes all three tests: Ice Storm, Cloud Gate and Fire Strike and free online account to manage your results.
