Samsung Unveils Galaxy Grand
Samsung officially presented the Samsung Galaxy Grand, featuring a 1.2GHz Dual Core processor, a 5.0" display and Google's latest and Google's latest Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS.
The GALAXY Grand sports an 8mp backside camera with zero shutter-lag, quick camera start-up and illumination sensor. The other features include Direct Call, which enables users to automatically dial a call by raising the device up to the ear; while users can also shake the phone to trigger status updates, or pan it to zoom into a screen. Smart Alert shows missed events such as missed calls and new messages just by picking up the phone. Popup Video, for example, lets users watch video in a pop-up window anywhere on the screen while running other tasks; S Voice lets you control the phone using your voice; and AllShare Play lets you share content across Samsung devices using a single account.
The GALAXY Grand will be available in two versions – the Dual SIM version (GT-I9082) will launch first and the single SIM version (GT-I9080) will follow.

NEC Introduces the "World's Thinnest Ultrabook"
Following the launch of the 13.3-inch LaVie Z in May this year, NEC, the Tokyo-based consumer electronics company, is introducing its latest ultrabook that is running Windows 8. NEC says that the LaVie X is the world’s thinnest ultrabook, thanks to its 12.8mm form factor and 1.59kg weight.
At 15.6-inches, the display size of the LaVie X is much larger than the LaVie Z and it also comes with a full HD IPS panel and a 1920x1080 resolution. Under the hood is an Intel Core i7-3517U 1.9Ghz processor. That power is supported by a 4GB RAM and a 256GB SSD. Other nifty features include a 2-megapixel web-camera, two USB 3.0 ports, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, an SDXC slot, and HDMI support. The LaVie X will be available this coming December 27th, most probably in the Japanese market. So far, no word for a global launch has been heard.
