Microsoft Announces New Surface Details
Microsoft Corp. today released new details about its highly anticipated Microsoft Surface. Originally unveiled in June, Surface with Windows RT will initially be available in three variants: a 32GB version ($499), a 32GB version bundled with a black Touch Cover (US$599), and a 64GB version with a black Touch Cover (US$699).
A variety of accessories will also be available, including Touch Covers in five colors—black, white, magenta, cyan and red—priced at $119.99. Customers will also have the option to purchase a Type Cover in black for $129.99, which adds traditional moving keys for typing.
The specifications of the novelty include:
- NVIDIA Tegra3 T30 SoC
- 2GB RAM
- 10.81x6.77x0.37 inches size, 1.5 pounds weight
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0
- Two 720p HD cameras, front- and rear-facing
- 32 or 64 GB storage
- Two microphones, stereo speakers
- Full-size USB 2.0, microSDXC card slot, headset jack, HD video out port, cover port
- Ambient light sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass
Microsoft Surface will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 26, 2012, in all Microsoft Stores in the United States and Canada. In addition, Surface will be available for sale online in eight markets across the world: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Today, KDDI announced the first phone to feature 5-inch 1080p display—HTC J Butterfly, based on Android 4.1.
The specifications of the novelty include:
- 5-inch 440ppi full-HD "Super LCD 3" display
- 1.5GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor
- 8-megapixel 1080p-recording back and 2.1-megapixel front cameras
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage with microSDHC expansion
- 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
- NFC, LTE and CDMA/GSM/UMTS/GPRS support
- IPX5 water protection
- 140g weight
- 2,020mAh battery
- Android 4.1
For KDDI users the phablet will be available in early December, with a choice of red, white or black.
